Do you mean if anyone gets close, or if you get close? Does she do it all the time, or only when you approach her in a certain section of the house? Is she allowed outside?
If it's when anyone else gets close, well it would seem obvious that she doesn't like strangers. If she does it when you get close, too, I'm not sure anymore, especially if she does it all the time. Has she always done this, or is it recent?
If it's when you approach her in a certain section of a special room, perhaps she has staked out her territory there. You'd undboutedly notice if she had kittens she was keeping there; mother cats are particular about who gets close to kittens.
If she's allowed outside, consider that someone or another animal outside has percecuted her. Perhaps she's been badly scared, or even hurt, and she's temporarily suspicious of everything.
If none of that pans out, with what you know about her, take her to the vet. It doesn't sound like it'll be easy, but if she's in pain internally, and she's hissing because she doesn't want to be touched, she needs to be looked at.

One of my three cats was like this for years and as time pasted he became more and more friendly now that he's 8 years old I can't get him to leave me alone that's all he wants is my attention. Cats are very independent animals and some just don't like to be touched, give her time.

Cats are finicky often associated with the female species. Get used to it. My ex-wife was the same. Finally, I had to get rid of her after she hissed one time too many. The ex that is, lol.

Give the kitty some room. let her come to you. when she eats stay and talk to her. tell her how beautiful she is and how your happy she is there. She needs to feel safe around you and if she hisses-back off.

Don't hurt the poor animal. Put on working gloves (the thick ones) and if you can put her in a cage - she needs a checkup. It could be that she is scared or it could be that she is in pain. Have her checked out.
