I'm not asking this to judge or comment. I just don't know the book very well(bought but did not read yet!), and haven't seen the movie!..

I just wondered why(some) Christians were angry and Pope said "Do not watch it!"?..

The book is okay. I am a very devout Christian and obviously unless your a complete ignoramous you would realize that since the book is fictional the stories within it are fictional too.

It includes the fictional stories of the Holy Grail, Priory of Sion, the Knights Templar and Opus Dei, just to name a few.

I thought it would make a great movie, much to my disppointment the movie did not meet my expectations at all. The book is really a debate about who is right, though biased toward Langdon, it never actually proves that he or Silas are right, though certainly alludes to the fact that Langdon's theories are true.

It amazes me that people believe the nonsense in the book. It's like believing Wonderland from "Alice in Wonderland" is a real place or the force from Star Wars is a real thing; sadly there are people who believe the Star Wars thing. So, the people who believe the Da Vinci Code are the same kind of people.

One thing in the book is true, John was painted as the affeminate man in Da Vinci's "Last Supper", though this was done as a form of satire to the church to infer that John and Jesus had homosexual relations because John always writes that he was "the disciple whom Jesus loved", the church was offended but it was this premise that made Da Vinci famous, he also used forms of satire in many of his religious paintings. Da Vinci did this because he himself was known to possibly have been "gay" and this would explain why he think the same of Jesus and John.

I didn't get angry about it. This Da Vinci Code stuff is old information, rehashed. Do you honestly think the writer of the book originated this stuff. And it is very disrespectful. And it's false information being presented as truth. Maybe some people don't think others are smart enough to know that the Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction.

The book is written as fiction. And I do not think it is a very well written book. It is true that artist of the early centuries expressed feelings and agenda through their art. The "Church" was the governing power. The "Church" doesn't want you to read anything that may cause you to question the true basis for their exsistence. The truth is, there are secret societies. Some are centuries old, and they continue today. Some of the most successful business men in the country have been members to these groups. It is frightening. It is more disturbing that the Pope would care to comment on a book of fiction, if he felt he had nothing to hide...

I don't know anything about what the Pope said but as a Christian when someone writes a book that tells a lie about the Lord Jesus Christ then I get angry. When you get the book read the first page and the author will tell you that the book is fictional. The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. He was God manifested in the flash. He did it all for me and gave me salvation without cost. Why would I not get angry. Philippians 2: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

I just completed reading the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I read it for three reasons. First of all over 40 million people have read the book. Second of all, the high budget movie with high caliber stars is getting ready to be released. If 40 million have read the book, you can imagine how many will see the movie. Thirdly, I want to be able to answer the many questions that the book and movie will generate in the minds of many non faith and marginal faith individuals.

Please know upfront that my heart is not to condemn readers or movie goers. My heart is to be able to exalt Jesus and point people to Him. If it takes reading a controversial book of fiction to be able to point people to Jesus in my day, I will gladly read it! There will be multitudes of Christians that will never read the book or see the movie, but they will be quick and vocal in condemning others. I don't want to be counted in that number.

I found the book to be very captivating as it is full of mystery and suspense, but I was very disappointed at the number of historical and theological errors that were made by the author. I think the book could have been just as captivating without the errors. It was obvious that Dan Brown did not put forth a lot of time in historical or theological research.

In Dan Brown's defense, he did make the following statement on the copyright page of The Da Vinci Code: "This book is a work of fiction." Readers and movie goers will need to remind themselves of this fact. I'm sure that in the days ahead, the media will fail to focus on the errors and the fact that the book is admittedly fiction by its author.

Would I read The Da Vinci Code if I had to do it all over? YES! I would for the three reasons I mentioned above. My desire is to point people to Jesus in my day. The book did not even come close to diminishing my faith in the Bible and in the deity of my Lord Jesus Christ. I made a choice a long time ago to make God's Word my authoritative guide to all of my beliefs and actions.

I have prayed for you today.

Know that you are loved!

Because Christians say that Jesus never married anyone or had kids. The Da Vinci Code says the opposite.

Kneejerk reaction. Sadly, if they had not said a word it would never have gotten the press and popularity it has. Sometimes we Christians need to bite our tongues and move on. If the DaVinci Code is strong enough to shake your faith to the point of protesting and carrying on as they have then their faith has some serious issues. If they think that small book can shake a Faith that has been around as long as Christianity then they need to go back to church and figure it out, because they obviously don't get it.

Because they don't understand the difference between fiction and non fiction. The Da Vinci Code is a fictional piece of work.

It accuses the church of misleading the world. It says that, in fact, jesus was merely human, and the church knew it, and tried to hide it.

It was a very intriguing movie. Even christians may choose to watch it and enjoy it. It was a very well-done movie, and I appreciated how it followed through to the end, instead of leaving it to the minds of the audience to contemplate the ending.

At the very least, a christian can recognize the movie as just a movie, and be big enough not to take it so seriously.

A lot of the so called "facts" in there were nothing but fiction. Even simple things like that building that was made out of 666 glass windows wasn't even made from 666 windows. The website for this building even says so! Dan Brown obviously did not do his research on this book.
