1) Because typically it's women who are concerned about body image, thus their weight. (Every visual form of media emulates the "perfect" female form. If you don't look like a model or porn star, you're not beautiful or sexy, therefore not worthy of men's attention. Get enough of that input and it's no wonder women feel inadequate.)

2) They wear bikinis to show off how good their bodies are for having used the product. What the company hawkers don't tell you is that all those bikini-clad women are genetic mutants who can eat whatever they want and not gain an ounce, and they work out obsessively. Absolutely no one can go from beer belly to six pack abs by eating or drinking a certain diet regimen. Only exercise can do that.

3) They don't need men to advertise for them. It's a known fact that sex sells. Women want to be the women in the ads, and the men just want the women in the ads. Either way, it's a psychological tactic the advertisers use (very effectively, too). "Use this product and you can have this body and the happy-go-lucky life that goes with it."

Probably because women worry about their weight more than men. Strictly stereotypically, of course.

Also, most men supposedly do sports and such, and so do not need to lose weight. (as often as women anyway)

But since women are typically stay-at-home moms, and eat when stressed, which is a lot, the media pinpoints women as the majority of their audience.

Of course, we happen to have an incredibly sexist media. Anorexic women are hot, right? But anorexic men? Oh, they must get help with their oh-so-terrible disorder!

I guess it's all based on stereotypes and sexism. Hope this helps!

I guess it's because it they don't care to see you lose weight, all they care for is their products selling well.
They know that women are more than twice more likely to be self-conscious than men, and i know that is a sterotype, but that is what industries are all about- getting certain "groups" to buy their product.
Perhaps men are just as self-conscious and unhappy with their bodies as some women are, but women are more likely to do something about it the faster, easier way (and that is also a stereotype, but I'm a girl, and I know that sometimes popping a couple of pills sounds better than running on a treadmill for two hours). Men will work out, ride bikes, join gyms, and do more manly stuff. Also, men who are not happy with their bodies usually don't want to lose weight and be thin, they want to build muscle and be strong. Because that's how perfect men are portrayed to be.

Well..American women are obsessed with weight and the whole world "idolizes" the perfect American woman who is tall and deathly thin and apparently is always in a bikini. We WISH! Men typically arent into the whole diet scene. So for marketing, they decide to go after the women who would pay anything to look like that.
But in reality: No diet alone is going to make you look like that.

The reason is that the US media culture has protrade women as size 0 twigs and bikinis show off the small size best even if the body fat is at an unhealth level. Yes, having too low of a body fat can cause major female problems.

I think someone said, "vanity thy name is woman". If they didn't I just did. Every woman I ever met, with two exceptions, wanted a body like the Center Fold of Playboy, and those two are far too classy to be in Playboy.

Since women are, normally, more weight conscience and appearance conscience they are the targets of advertisers. And with men (the pigs) wanting their wives and lovers to weigh less than 250 pounds, the likely hood of men embracing the ads are significantly better with trim fit women portrayed in the ads. So you get what sells you and your old man gets what sells him. A win/win for advertisers, and all in one ad.

Generally women are more obsessed with weight loss and looking slim as compared to men. So the advertistments cater to the majority.

I don't really know why that is. I guess when it comes to sexual propaganda, women are used more than men. I think also that women seem to worry more about their weight than men.
