I have a beautiful home but the vinyl posts are attached with a u-shaped metal bracket to the concrete porch. There are bolts with nuts on one side of each post, on the opposite side is the head of the bolt, and the other two sides are smooth. I would like to dress these posts off somehow, but am at a loss as to how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You could trim the bottom of it with wood, rock or brick.

If using wood, you would create a box slightly bigger than your posts with no bottom and a hole cut out of the top that fit tight up against the post. You would need to miter cut the wood to make it fit and look right, but it wouldn't be too hard. You can make the box just big enough to cover the bracket or you could make it however big you think looks good.

The other alternatives would probably require you to hire a brick or rock mason.

I would do something that compliments the rest or your home's exterior.

Don't cut the bolts or ruing the U shaped piece as this is holding the posts in place which in turn support the roof over your porch.

Ypu can have the bolts easily cut off and do what you want.
