Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the
Lord. 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the
head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
What?? Why is he being sexist?

Any thoughts?

There has been a great deal of research and study put into the entries to which you refer. In my opinion, Paul did not write the specific verses dealing with women being subserviant but were probably written well afterward by someone in the church to try to influence the roll of women in the church and home. I'm a Christian and I've spent alot of time on the bible and I do believe there have been places where editing has changed the message. You have to read these things and put them into perspective and try to relate them to OUR time, not that of the time of the writing.

He is not being sexist. If you continue in the verses, verses 25-29. These verses state how Husbands are to love their wives as themselves and the way that Christ loves the church. This is an impossiblility for men to do, but we should be aspiring to follow these instructions.

Both of these instructions taken together, show how a married couple are to be completely devoted to each other and to treat each other with as much respect and devotion as possible.

I could only wish for a man to love me the way that Christ the head of the Church loves His Church!

He's not being "sexist". he is saying that the man is suppose to "run" the relationship. For example: in a relationship, the man is suppose to bring up the topic on where the relationship is going and the values of it. Also to keep the relationship focused on God first.
