I have no personal experience with either of these, but I thought that they were worth a look.

Picasa says that it contains Poster Making capabilities, but I didn't see any sign of it featured in the tour, perhaps you might want to check them out anyway.

Rasterbator is really cool: http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/. It lets you "rasterize" any image and then blow it up to quite large sizes. You submit your photo to the service and it creates a pdf for you. You can print on many 8 1/2 x 11 pages, or on a plotter.
