My cat Cole acts like a dog as well (plays fetch, walks on a leash with me, sits at the door and paws at it to go out, etc). I don't try to stop him because that is what makes him a unique cat. I love everything about him, dog like or not.

If you have a dog, and the cat was brought in as a kitten, he is socialized just as a dog is. He is taught to come to you, and follow you, and do most of the things he is able to do, like a dog. Obviously , he cannot bark, but I had a cat who would Meow loudly when strangers were around. So, what is the problem, specificly?

LOL I had a cat who thought he was a dog once

He loved to go for car rides and would run after us and jump in the car anytime we tried to go somewhere.

He went camping with us, followed us on walks...,
man that cat was weird!

But he was raised with dogs and not cats. maybe it was the socialization? I'll never know.
He finally got old and died. But just like with people, every once in a while an odd ball is born.

Don't sweat it. being different just makes him more special. Love him and give him a dog treat. LOL.

What does he do that is so bad that you want him to stop?
i have a cat that acts like a dog and love it... he comes when he is called, follows directions such as "SIT", and follows along side of you when walking around the yard... don't change him he is who he is and love him for that...

get over it. it just makes the cat more adorable. but if u have to make em stop them dont approve of or give attention to the cat if it does that. the cold shoulder. just dont praise. but if i were u i would realize what a special cat i have and just sit back and laugh:)

You can't, just go with it. Our cat thinks it's a dog. She fetches, chases her tail, and drinks from the toilet. We have just gotten used to it. She is kinda entertaining!!
