it depends on the species. The smaller Macaws can go for $500 Canadian while the larger ones can go for $1200 to as much as $10, 000 for the very rare species. The Hyacinth and Lear's macaws are the most expensive on the market. Blue and Golds can go for $1000 to $2000.
Then there's adopting. Often birds go for much more affordable prices.

To answer your question specifically....Last known sales of a Spix Macaw wasto an oil tycoon in the middle east. He paid 20 million for it. That's because Spix are endangered and possibly soon to become extinct in the wild.

i only paid 600.00 for my 9 y.o. B&G Macaw she is wonderful! one of the best birds i have. i paid 900 for my 8 month baby B&G macaw. so i guess it's just where you are located and whether or not the person selling is out to make profit of just find the RIGHT home for their bird.good luck

if you look hard enough you can get a baby blue and gold for $650 and hand feed it until its older. but hand feeding is hard and you must have some one show you how to do it! if you do not want to hand feed you can get one for about $700 to $1000 weaned. ;)
