Lime or lemon juice will mellow the burn and add another depth of flavor. Wtaer and cream will dilute the flavors.

You either need to make another batch of stew without jalapeno and mix them or you need to add a cream base to the soup to counter the burn

Add a healthy pinch or two of sugar. It will balance out the heat. You can also add more of the other ingredients (without additional jalapeno) to weaken the heat.

If i ever add too much of an ingredient I add potato just peel and slice in half ( 2 big chuncks ) and toss it in. alos shredded carrot many help.

add potatoes, even if it's half potatos so you can take them out. works for salt, too
