yes! most definitely! i recently went through this. we had a 16 year old dog who died a couple years ago. we had gotten another dog a few years back and they were best buds. My parents have a bird that talks and it says his name. whenever it does, my poor dog runs all over the house looking for him. :(

I would say definatly in there own ways they do. I have had a dog who had a sister and she for a while acted all weird and wouldn't play or eat. Also we have this cat right now that was so close to my dog that once we got rid of the dog the cat just went all around the house meowing like crazy because they were so close to one another.

sure they do. Animals comprehend lack of existence. it really is the reason this kind of huge volume of styles of animals pass off faraway from others, because they comprehend that they are going to die. I actually have continually had diverse pets, and after I lose one, I continually enable the others come round and sniff so that they are going to comprehend what has happened. They nevertheless greve, yet no longer as a lot as they'd in the experience that they did not comprehend what happened to the single which died. I had 2 cats one time. I nevertheless have one, he's 16. One beloved to pass out part, the different became petrified of it. He would sit down on and end table and look ahead to China to go back contained in the puppy door. He would pounce on her and rancid they'd pass! They loved one yet another a lot they slept in each others fingers. in some unspecified time sooner or later some new human beings moved in next door. China became no longer petrified of dogs because she became used to mine. properly this dogs killed her. i became so indignant and disillusioned because the dogs got here in my backyard and killed my cat in her personal backyard. besides, i became so disillusioned i did not imagine about letting Pee-nut see her earlier I buried her. That unfavourable toddler sat on that end table and waited for his chum to go back by the puppy door for months. It became actually the saddest aspect I actually have ever considered. He purely waited and watched the puppy door. finally he would pass to their mattress and lay down on my own! i am going to not in any respect make that mistake back. I nevertheless have Pee-nut and besides the actual incontrovertible reality that he continues to be a invaluable cat, something replaced in him, and he became not in any respect a similar.

yes most definitly! dogs become very attached to other dogs in the group. its like a pack. its just as bad as if ur family died. they mourn for there partners because they have no clue what happend to their friend and they think u took them away.
The best thing possible(if possible) is let the other dogs in the family smell or see their friend that passed away. then they will all of sudden have great improvements and will realize what happened. its amazing. . . .just try.

My dog showed very marked symptoms of what I would believe was grief after our other dog died. He looked & looked for him all around our house. Sat & waited for him at the door. Moped around the house. I definitely believe that he was grieving as I was.
