Ok, from a personal trainers point of view normally you should do about 12 sets minimum per body part, mixing it up with 3-4 different exercises, about 3-4 sets, and about 10-12 reps. If you want more bulk, increase your weight, lower your reps to 5-8. Also, comsume about 1 gram of protein per body pound a day. So if you weigh 115 lbs. then you need to take in 115 grams of protein a day. Protein shakes are good but its liquid protein and you will most likely just have frequent bowel movements. Try solids on top of the protein shakes. Hope this helps, let me know. Email: djcmin76@yahoo.com

Before you start any exercise regimin you should talk with your physician. There are many different factors to losing weight... diet metabolism, general health, start weight & goal weight. AVOID fad diets!! Eat out less. eat healthy, fruit, fiber, less red meat, lots of veggies! Take a daily supplement--centrum is the best, your body only absorbs 10% - 50% of the nutreints. Muscle weighs more than fat, as you lose fat and gain muscle, your weight may drop then stay steady for awhile, don't be discouraged. Walk, swim, ride a bike & drink your milk.

Depends whether you want bulk or lean muscle.
Weight training 3 x a week is good. Work each muscle group to fatigue or failure. If you want lean muscle, do lots of repetitions with lower weights. If you want bulk, do few reps, heavy weight. There are certain techniques to use to bodybuild, but that's another topic.
Check out bodybuilder.com. They have some good articles there.

You should warm up 5 min - do your weight training - then do cardio for 20 min. Be sure to stretch between each set when you lift. It will give you a better look
