I think it had something to do with adapting to their surroundings, depending on what part of the world they lived in. (Ex. if you live near the equator, you may have a better tan, b/c of it being so hot).

Skin color and other facial features all came about by environmental conditions that ones ancestors experienced.
Recall in the Bible that In Genesis ch 1 v26 God said "WE will create man in OUR image" giving reference very plainly that God was not alone at the time of creation. However the audience that was present with him did not create the world with him but rather observed him creating the world. It is taught by many christian faiths that the image God was referring to is the ability to think, reason, have intelligence, free will, love, care, ask and answer questions, and thus reflect the beings that he created in Heaven only in the flesh on Earth.

First Part of the Question:
God's Image is a "cookie cutter". Everything is made in God's Image for example: heaven and earth: man and woman: spirit and body.
A human although made in God's image does not look exactly like a starlit night (heaven and earth), but we are both in God's Image.
Even Jesus Christ was described as being unique.
Does that make Jesus or you or anyone else any less of God's Image.
------------------------------------------------------
Second Part of the Question:
Geographical Adaptations down to the DNA.

It is because God doesnt have only one image. God resembles everyone, and looks different in everyones imagination. God isnt one specific race, he is the creator of mankind, giving him different features of each type of race form each type of mind. And though people appear differently than others, we ared all the same, two legs, two ears, and so on.

If God is black, why did he create white human beings? If God is black, why did he enable hurricane Katrina wipe out a predominantly black component to new Orleans, or enable the Tsunami of 2005 wipe out such a brilliant number of of the dark skinned human beings of south east Asia? If God is black, why did he enable slavery? Why, surprisingly, is Africa no longer a Holy united states like Israel if the human race originated there? Why does God enable black human beings have shorter existence spans, and why does he enable the justice equipment (U.S.) to be unfairly stacked against blacks? Why does he enable professional-black agencies to be overwhelmed via institutionalized racism? Why does he even enable racism? Why are there different races?

It pleased Him to create us as different as possible. The "image" does not deal with the flesh but the spirit. That's why Adam was a little god on earth.

dats a gud question...most people would say, adaption to their enviorment. but isnt the sun hotter in africa, not asia. and yet africans hav BIG EYES and asians hav SMALL EYES. wouldnt it be the other way around?
but not al people look alike, some children have the same screening as their parents and look nothing like them. this is due by past down genes. they can skip a generation and appear in another. but as for color, and looks...
color, climate, looks, genes.
other than that, i hav no idea..just wondering but do you believe in god???
just a question, not lookin for trouble>..

there are soo many different looking people because after the flood god commanded them to spread out and populate the world. they didnt listen and begun building the tower of babel. after God intervened he dived people according to there families, language and nation. thats where all the different races and skin color came from.
Also when it is said in the Bible that we are made in God's image, it dosent mean that we physically look like God, its spiritual. there is Father Son and Holy Spirit, and they are one ....we are body , soul, spirt.....and together we are one..

Because we created god in our image. Or more precisely to my belief, we see god as we are. It's also man's interpretation that we were made in god's image.
