First what do you mean cuz you got ticket? Is that why you were late for court or why you had court?? If it's why you were late then that is a usable excuse, there will be a record of it that you have to give the judge. If you were late for some other reason too bad so sad. They can and will **** youo. Pricks that they are

You mean, if you missed your court appointment for a ticket? Or you didn't pay your ticket by the due date?
If you missed a court appointment, they could issue a bench warrant. There's usually a few days' grace period on paying a ticket.

There ain't no could issue.....they issued a warrant for failure to appear. You need to call and straighten it out immediately. If it is for a simple offense, they will most likely just recall the warrant. If you let it go, it will jump up and bite you when you least expect it.

They will issue a warrant for your arrest
If you are a couple of hours late, you have that warrant issued

nothing really just go the next day and say you lost the ticket and weren't sure what day you were supposed to appear they will probably just give you a new date to appear

call them right away to explain the situation- more then likely you will end up with a failure to appear but you can get out of it with proof of why you didn't call
