Im in the US for another 9 or 10 months. Originally I live in Melbourne, Australia. I was talking to my mum last night and she mentioned that my cat had stayed in my bed all day and wouldnt come out. She tried calling him out when it was time to feed him but he wouldnt budge. Just stayed in there! She pulled the covers back to take a look at him and he just looked up at her and rested his head back down to sleep. She is worried that he may be feeling depressed because ive been away from him for so long now. And after hearing that its starting to worry me now too. It is winter at the moment at home so she isnt too sure if thats the reason why he decided to stay in there. As a kitten he used to like crawling into bed where he had my scent for security and the comforter for warmth. Is he feeling depressed or was he just having a lazy day and wanted to stay some where that he felt closer to me. Im a little worried..

His a healthy cat so there r no worries with him being sick. His taken to the vet for check-ups and always comes out of there healthy.

It sounds like he just misses you. One of my cats sleeps in the covers whenever I'm not home and if I am away overnight he won't even eat. Another cat, if I'm away too long, will actually get stressed out so much that he gets a fever or eye infection. It's so weird, but they do get attached. If your mom can take him to a vet to rule out anything else, and he is eating and drinking, then don't worry. I know it's hard, I worry when I'm gone, too.
Good luck!

Your cat misses you very much as it gets used to the idea that you are not around or not coming back it will get back to normal but your cat loves you and is greiving the loss of you it doesn't know that you had to leave and will be back someday.

He is probably depressed. When you call your mom, have her put the phone up to cats ear and talk to him. It might perk him up, and you to.

He could be depressed or he could be ill. Has she had him to the vet for a check up?
