Absolutely!! Alcohol makes antibiotics neutral-meaning it counteracts their effectiveness. Gonna drink? don't take the antibiotics-it's a waste of a good pill. Save it til the booze is out of your system.

The manufacturer of amoxicillin advises against consuming alcohol while taking amoxicillin. Alcohol can have an effect on absorption and hepatic metabolism, but as long as you are healthy and drink in moderation at least an hour or two away from taking the amoxicillin then there should be no problem.

Yes. Yes. and yes. Any alcohol decreases the affects an antibiotic will have for clearing up an infection. 7-10 days, the alcohol can wait!

no that is an old wives tale. If the bottle doesn't have a warning sticker about alcohol then you're good to go. :)
oops, I work in a hospital and asked the MD yes it can have an adverse effect. So, sorry :)

Alcohol consumption will have a negative effect on ANY antibiotic! You might as well stop taking it (or quit drinking during its course).

alcohol and medicines dont mix. Even some foods have negative effects on some meds. Stay away from booze for a while.

alcohol will keep antibiotics from their full effect, something in the alcohol makes the antibiotics not work, i think you should wait to drink after you are done your persribction

Best avoided. It won't necessarily make you ill, but alcohol can reduce the antibiotic effect.

Never take alcohol with a medication. This can be harmful, and/or make your medication not work.
But this source I saw said you could.
The way I look at it better safe than sorry....
