hey! i just finished my sophmore year. so it's fresh in my mind.
it's almost like freshman year, but you'll probably (depending on your school's curiculum) have more classes with upperclassmean, which is a great opportunity to make new friends. a great way to make high school in general better, get involved in a club, sport, activity that you like or are interested. if there isn't one you know of that you like, go to a club that one of your friends goes to. having someone there you know will make you more comfortable. don't be afraid to try new things!
having something besides schoolwork to focus on while at school (for example i'm on drumline), like a club, will give you a more positive idea about being there. some of the best memories of high school i have so far are of me and my friends hanging out in the empty school during drumline practices.
i hope that helps some! don't worry too much and have fun.

Freshmen are below you in the pecking order for a reason. Seriously though, Consider your Sophmore year as kind of a break. You just made it through that live-fire obstacle course so quaintly known as "Freshman Year" and now you have a chance to stop and catch your breath, take a look around and get your bearings. The Juniors are following the Seniors and the Seniors are headed out and neither are concerned about you. The Freshman are too busy remembering where the bathrooms are located and trying not to be tripped over to be a problem for you. So, that leaves your peers. OK, go for what you know when you know you know it, kind of lay back when you don't, but; confidently. Brush your teeth, change your underwear and mind your manners. Well, that's all I've got. Bueno Suerte(good luck)

I am 61 years old, yet my sophomore year (10th grade) still stands out in my mind. I very nearly did not survive it. Everything changed: my school, the other students around me, the whole attitude about the seriousness of the education process. I had been an A student, but that year - with so many more and brighter students around me - I stumbled, real bad. Started hanging out with the "wrong" crowd, skipping class, not studying. The result? I flunked my entire sophomore year. This meant I was not going to graduate with "my" class, among other things.
My parents wept; my sister wept; my teachers and guidance counselors scolded and offered help. The whole thing was such a shock to my system that I snapped out of my self-pity at how much things had changed. I begged to be allowed to go on to my junior year, and was granted the chance. Spent my junior and senior year repeating my sophomore classes, and by graduation time I was back on the honor roll, exempt from finals, and got my diploma on time.
If any of this resonates with you, then my advice is to start early on letting your parents and teachers know you feel a struggle coming on and you would appreciate any support and help they can give. Sophomore year IS tough, but it is survivable, and you can do it.

Learn to spell school, make sure you decide what you believe about sex and drugs etc. before you get into a situation where you have to make a choice. Once you know what you believe stick to it. Study hard and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Keep in mind that that what you do when you are in high school helps to determine what will happen for the rest of your life. Be smart, but have fun. You are only young once.

I survived my sophomore year of high school knowing that I would get to college soon--I knew that I had just passed by ten years (K-9) of my education. Holy crap, that meant that half of my education was done (I intend to go to medical school--I just finished my sophomore year in college).
Just remind yourself that you only have three years (10, 11, 12) now. Then, when you get to have a rare experience. College is one of the few times in your life you can completely reinvent yourself.
Just keep on the bright side of things. My 10th grade was craptastic, however, I made it through knowing I would soon be out of my little pit.

well i've been through it and i survived.all you have to do is just act normal and be yourself.if you're popular don't mistreat the others,or people will hate you and remember your name always-not in good way of course.if you're just a normal student then just be neutral to other group, just like i did.and trust me,you'll feel happier that way.guys in sophomore year, thats when they start to think about the dirty stuff, but if you can take care and be true to yourself you'll survive.my sophomore was one of my best year in high-school.whatever it is just enjoy-life with limits of course-high-school years are the best time in your life so make it good.

Get involved in school activities, like sports, or a club, but not one of the geeky ones, like matheletes or chess club. Be yourself, don't be a poser (b/c once you start you can't stop), and hang out with good kids...don't get mixed in with the "bad apples". DON'T THINK ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK OF YOU! In two more years, you won't have to see them ever again.
