quality air from pollution is more likely to kill you than the hour you spend smelling a cig in a restuarant? If you read the REAL reports on second hand smoke you will see that they are basically inconclusive because it's impossible to do studies while people are still breathing in smog, car emmisions & all the other variants in the air. I am no longer a smoker, but these studies never made sense to me. Unless you put someone in a bubble & only expose them to cigarette smoke on occasions of going out to eat, a bar, or whatever then how can you really say?

Yes, but we do know that smokers develop numberous health problems from smoking, so why would we want to expose those people who do not smoke to a possible health problem. I understand your argument, but I am saying that we should not expose people to second hand smoke because we don't know the true effects it will have on a person. What if it had the same effects it had on a smoker? If I was a non-smoker and was around second hand smoke and it gave me the same health problems, I would be pissed. I think it's better that we just don't smoke and don't expose others to second hand smoke if we do.

Other people smoking in my presence is apt to cause me to lose my voice and give me a sinus infection. I am not talking about in restaurants or bars. It is in close confined locations like houses cars etc.

Think about it this way:

Should I pour arsenic on my non organic salad because it already has been sprayed with toxins?

One wrong doesn't make another right.
