"For what? You have no specifics! Get real!"

ROFLMAO. Pick up a baseball book, sweetie.

"Just support a different team."

Blasphemy! I can't believe you just suggested that. Have you ever been a diehard fan of a team? You just can't stop loving them like you have a choice, give me a break! Would you go out and find a new child if yours pissed you off one day? Laughable!

Thank you, Matt. I really appreciate evaluations of my personality from people who have read one question I've posted on the Internet.

you should put a public notice in the Chicago Sun times with this exact notion of yours---brilliant!!! people from all over Chicagoland--and beyond-- will line up to sign your "petition"! if you go ahead with your idea, watch it--you might see people in their graves coming up from the dead waiting to join you in your quest for some kind of compensation.so many folks since 1908 have been waiting for the Cubs to do something like what the white sox did last year. I always think they should eliminate the organization and start a new franchise elsewhere. good luck, inspired one!

Yes, but even if you win, the judge would probably just award you a $1. There is an easy way to avoid emotional distress as a sports fan--become a frontrunner.

I would never do that BUT I will tell you I fired the Boston Bruins as my fave hockey team as it just was not the same once the Garden came down, McSorley hit Brashear in the head with a stick (no self-respecting Big Bad Bruin would do that...that's what fists are for) and the Allison trade. I gave up and it's freeing not thinking about them after 30 years.

It's worth thinking about, if you get so emotionally involved in a team your blood boils.

The White Sox fans actually drowned out the Cubs fans during Take Me out to the Ballgame today at Wrigley Field.
But your lawsuit should be against the Cubs hitters for non-support. They had plenty of opportunities and could not get a clutch hit.

Nope. Cubs fans picked their poison, now must die by it. On the other hand, you might be able to sue the Cubs for fraud, i.e. pretending to be a successful baseball team.

I am still predicting that the Cubs will win the World Series in 2008, exactly 100 years since their last victory. They will defeat the Seattle Mariners, who will be playing in their first World Series ever.

By definition you can't file a class action lawsuit against anything or anyone by yourself.
But see New England v. Boston Red Sox 1919 - 2003 for legal precedent.

I think you have a case.
and I would like to sign up too, even though Im a whitesox fan.
But the sight of such an awful team in this town has been emotionally pissing me off for years.

you should sue 'em for all their worth then change the name of wrigley field to your name, it'll be snapessxy field from then on.

LMAO! No - don't you think someone else would've tried this already? And if that person had won, then others would have surely come out of the woodwork to bankrupt the Scrubs. However, they're still around. I have no idea why, though.

Yes, if you were alive the last time the Cubs won you can file a lawsuit.

Please, it's a baseball team. They're not using their bats to club baby seals, and their gear isn't made by Honduran children in a sweatshop.

Emotional distress. Just support a different team
