Then unless your doggy is a national champion and improving the beagle breed with her flawless confirmation, it's probably time you get her spayed before she comes into the next heat cycle when she can breed and get pregnant.

They can come into heat as young as 5 or 6 months and the length of that period varies from dog to dog, but can last as long as 2 weeks.

If she is exposed to sperm but not in heat, nothing will happen. Same thing as a human, it has to be at just the right time in the cycle for the egg to be fertilized. If she's not in heat there probably isn't an egg present. That and most females won't even accept a male unless they are in heat (there are some very noticeable physical changes when the female is at her peak time for reception during the heat cycle).

Dogs go into heat about once every six months. Their heat cycles last about three weeks. A female will only accept a male for about 3-4 days during that cycle. Usually around the tenth day into her cycle. A female can conceive each time she breeds which means if she breeds with three different males, she might have 3 or more puppies who each have different fathers. You should NEVER breed a dog before she is at least two years old. There are far too many puppies in the world today with no homes. Please do them a favor and get your pet spayed!

Lu........Your an idiot!

dog's usually have a period at least 2xs a year.
if she had a period 2 mo's ago then it's too late to breed her. wait until next period happens then try to mate her then. a dog's period usually lasts from 1-3 wks only.
that's the only time she can become pregnant is when she's bleeding. no other time then that.
if doggy sperm gets to her, it shouldn't be a problem. the male needs to mate w/female more then once. usually that is. then the get stuck together, that's how the sperm is transferred. male dog's can just be horny & want to hump the female. the male needs to do it a certain way in order to impregnate a female.

Spaying her is good on so many levels. You're probably to late for the mammary cancer protection but at least she would not develop uterine cancer and certain infections. Yes spaying does help calm them some. Also you would not be contributing to the millions of dogs that die every year because too many are born for the amount of homes available.

At age 6mos. to one year. The female comes into heat every 6 mos.. It's best to get her spayed before she is 2 years old, as this greatly reduces her chances of breast cancer.

And remember: for every dog you produce, there are 4000 that are put to sleep in pounds after waiting for someone to love them. Adopt a pound pup !

Please don't breed your dog. There are so many dogs being put to sleep because of people thinking that it would be cute to have puppies , and its a I am pretty sure you have about no idea as to what your doing here because your going online to find out about breeding. For the sake of your dog just get here spayed, the longer she isn't the more at risk to cancer she is.

Don't breed her.....have her spayed!! Every time she goes in heat the more her chances of getting cancer INCREASES!!! Poor dog, let her be a pet, and don't let her have puppies! You are supposed to be responsible for her!

If you need to ask this question on yahoo, you shouldn't be breeding.

Just stop now before you hurt the dog, ok.

I woulld talk to her vet about that. she needs to be two atleast and you have to know before hand who you are going to give them to are that could be really bad. you can hook up with another breeder and they can have show puppies that is the best way to go!
