Should we just amputate California out of the Union?

Question

Sometimes, when a patient's pretty badly injured, the answer is unfortunately to amputate an injured limb so as to permit the patient to live, rather than risk their life for the sake of a failed attempt to fix the limb. Many feel that California's firmly on the road to hell, and de-facto occupation by Mexico, ironically without a bullet having been fired. Are american interests still represented in California in regards to Mexico and points beyond, or is it time to build a supplemental border fence?

Nope we keep it. We just remove the disease (illegal immigrants) that is infecting it. If you let a disease remain too long it starts to spread and take over and destroy the host. Gee isn't this what we see the illegals doing now?

If someone has coronary heart diseases, is the right course of action the removal of the heart? What about meningitis? Do you approve of brain surgery when there are other alternatives?

California, as someone pointed out, is an incredible economic superpower. Surely, from that perspective alone, your argument is incredibly weak. The "many" that "feel" California is on a road to hell (others than those on Fox News) are really ardent Republicans that want a lot more conservativism than California wants. And that's ok. California is more liberal than Texas, but you don't hear California asking for an "amputation" of Texas, do you?

The "de facto" occupation by Mexico (though not "immigrants", interestingly... maybe you've never been to California and haven't met all the awesome other people that are there: Chinese, Koreans, Canadians, Hmong, Vietnamese...) argument is also wrong because of one key point: it's false. It's not occupied. Is Mexico heavily representative of the overall makeup of California's population? Yes. Is it the majority? No. However, if by "occupation" you mean a group that imposes there ways on others, you're right. By that definition we are occupying Iraq just like the Israelis are occupying Palestine.

All the bullets in the world are not going to stop Mexico from going there. You should have taken care of that problem say twenty years ago....sorry buddy...

I would miss all the Hollywood movies though ... :( Seriously, California is so over run by illegals now that it's difficult to see where they should start ... but start they must .... at least SOME people in California seem to be woken up at last ... maybe, just maybe, a few more of them will see sense before it's too late ....

NO! NO AND NO!! That is what they want!! That is their plan to "take back Aztlan"! They want to get a foothold in the USA and then they will take Arizona..N.Mexico..Nevada.. TEXAS!!

Tiny Chicano group pushes racism and homophobia

"Our duty is to take back what is ours," reads the Internet page, "even if it means carrying out total genocide."
Standard fare, perhaps, for your garden-variety white supremacist Web sites. But there's a twist.

The sentiment comes this time not from any neo-Nazi or Klan page, but from the message board of La Voz de Aztlan, the racist and anti-Semitic Web magazine of a tiny group of extremist Chicanos in Los Angeles.

"Aztlan" is the mythical Aztec homeland that supposedly existed in Mexico and the southwestern United States before the Spanish conquest of 1519. And though La Voz's members number at most a dozen, they hope to take the entire territory back.

Adopting pseudonyms like Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl, they have even established a "provisional government," apparently anticipating chaos after the coming revolution.

La Voz de Aztlan's articles go way, way past mainstream Latino concerns, railing against "Nazi" Jews, "demonic" lesbians and "the Jew/Gay Democratic Party." The site approvingly quotes ancient Aztec law, requiring disembowelment for homosexuals.

It blames Jews for political problems in Los Angeles and even provides the entire text of the infamous anti-Semitic forgery, Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Worse, though, are the message boards.

"Kill any Raza [Latina] woman," writes one participant, "who mixes her blood with either white trash or ... ****** scum."

When queried by the Intelligence Report, La Voz's editors denied any anti-Semitism, writing anonymously via E-mail that they were not endorsing the Protocols but offering them up for "analysis and discussion only."

Publishing the Protocols, they argued, "is not any different from the ploys that ... [TV trash-talk show host] Jerry Springer uses for his ratings."

Great idea! And the first thing we'll do, as our own country, is legalize pot. Taxes on that will be enough to eliminate the need for income tax.
