My dog I think is in heat. She is 1 year old. She is swollen and bleeding from her bottom. She is not fixed. Is this something that will continue monthly, and if so, how long does it last?

She is a supervised dog and I do plan on getting her spayed. I was just wondering how long this lasts.

most female dogs cycle every 6 months. There are stages that she will go thru. This will last a couple of weeks from start to finish. Like humans each dog is a little different. Check with the breeder of the dog for a good clue as to the cycle of your dog.

Female dogs will bleed anywhere from 6-9 days. They are considered in heat the week before and the week after. (Total of 3 weeks).

This usually happens 2 times a year. To stop it, have her spayed.

I think that it happens like every six months or so. Its definately not monthly but when it does happen it lasts a couple of weeks or so. It's a mess. Be careful about letting her outside unsupervised. A male dog will stop at NOTHING to get to her. Also, bevery careful if you decide to have her fixed while she is still in heat. It can be dangerous for the dog.

It's normal about 2 times a year. Lock her up in a place where she doesn't have any contact with a male dog if you don't want her pregnant. She has a scent now that will drive a male dog crazy from miles away. I'm talking about a tight place not a chain link fence. Yes it's possible.

Yep. She's in heat. If you don't plan to breed her, you should get her fixed because it's messy, and the chances of her getting pregnant if she goes outside unsupervised are pretty high. Yes, this is going to continue. Not monthly, though. Dogs are different from humans.

dogs usually come into heat twice a year and it can last for 3 weeks. they dont always bleed for that amount of time, but they can still be bred so just keep your dog inside until its over.

Get your dog spayed!! If you have to ask this question, you certainly don't know near enough about dogs to be breeding them. There are already too many homeless dogs in the world, please don't contribute to making the number even higher. Thousands of dogs are put to sleep every day. Pay your female, neuter your male. Its best for everyone!!
