It's past the point of addiction ... you better find him some help now or you're going to lose this battle.

I have a few family members that are addicted to vicodin & it's a hard drug to kick ... !

Find a Dr. that can help or a program or something .. anything and good luck.

First off. Watch out for the Vicodin. It is the number one abused prescription drug. I should know my wife was arrested for stealing a friends prescriptions to keep having them.

Most need a 12 step program to get off of them. Once he gets off the pain meds, he will realize the pain killers were doing more harm than good.

The sex will come back once the gets off of them.

I'm very sorry for you it sounds like he's starting to have a problem with pain killers.
If I were you I would try to sit down with him and tell him how this is ruining your relationship and you can't handle it anymore and that he needs to quit taking the pills and that you want him to be the man you married and that you don't like what's happening to him and you marriage. If you haven't done this already.
If you've already tried that method well the next thing you can try is to get him medical help for his problem he might be mad at you but you're doing what's best for him and his health>

Poor guy... I'm so sorry he had to go through that.

Talk to him and ask him what he's feeling and if the pain is too severe, and if there's anything you can do to help. Discuss everything calmly without pointing fingers and arguments. Don't start blaming him for this, it is not his OR your fault to begin with. People don't usually take so many pain-killers in a week, not mentioning a day, there are exceptions of course... Plus to this the relationship is NOT ruined, it IS just on pause for a little while untill he'll get better and back to normal :) Reasure him that you'll be with him through this difficult time and would always be by his side whenever he'll need you and you'll wait for him to be the way he was before :) He'll know that he can depend on you and will trust you even more with this problem and pain. There are not that many men who are comforable with showing their pain and suffering to others, but they will show it and explain what they feel ONLY to the one who trully cares for them and understand them (in this case, it'll be your Husband talking to YOU). It's totally understandable if he's in a lot of pain and due to surgeries he has to take them. If he's not careful, though, he might unintentionally get addicted to them as well as might have physical (i.e.: intimate) problems come up without him even realizing it.

After talking to him suggest that both of you will go together to a caring physician who'll be able to explain and diagnose another underlying problem to the pain. The Doctor might lower the dosage step-by-step so that way the recovery will not be painful and in the same time he won't get addicted. Sometimes when a Doctor prescribes a different set of drugs, they can throw anyone through a loop of a different set of problems that were not there before. Be careful and watch for what is prescribed by anyone. Do your own research on the newly-given drug EVEN IF you trust the Doctor who gave the prescription.

If the Doctor will not be able to help, consult the Alternative Medicine and Therapies carring Professional. Those types of people usually (more times than not) can give you a simplest solution to any pain: either herbal tea or visit to chiropractor / acupunturist. Either one (of the three) will be able to cure the problem all-together. Reason being:
- Herbal teas (depending what kind of problem a patient has) have healing minerals given only by nature (nothing from the modern medicine: i.e.-drugs) and they can relieve pain, discomfort, and anxiety. Herbal teas or just herbs that you can prepare are all natural and they have a lot of benefit to anyone who's using them. There are no side-effects at all to this, only one: person starts to feel a lot better and has a lot more energy and strength to go through the day :)
- Acupunturist can pin-point which areas are "blocked" meaning that energy is not "flowing" right through the whole body. There are about 365 acupuncture points in the human body and each one of them corresponds directly with a certain organ in the system: from brain to tippy-toes. Acupuncturist will first make sure what the patient needs and then design a specialized program just for him/her.
- Chiropractor is able to straighten out bones and "unpinch" nerves that were trapped between two bones, this way approaching a painless and relaxing method of healing.
* All the Alternative Medicine and Therapies Professionals are highly qualified people who have highest degrees received either in here or in their own country AND approved here in the U.S. At times this type of treatment can be less expensive and at times a little bit more expensive, it just depends on the extent of the injuries and what is needed to be done. Usually it takes only couple of sessions for the patient to feel a huge difference. Those who were on drugs or pain-killers for very long periods of time are able to feel so much better that they no longer need any medications to sustain their well-being.

It might take a little bit of time, but your Husband will be back to his usual wonderful and cheerful self in no time, just be as loving and caring as you already are and give him a little bit more time to heal completely :)

Best of luck and wishes :) Take care.
