As the youngest of 4 boys, and the father of two boys and two girls by my wife of 26 years, I would have to say that I doubt the accuracy / science of this research.

Homosexuality is not genetic. And this 6000 year old Earth that is flat by the way does not revolve around the sun. You people need to lay off this whole science thing and get the real truth from the word of God that was written and edited by man.

But seriously, anyone that thinks that sexuality is not a natural thing but a learned thing must think that under the right cirumstances, their own sexuality could have gone either way. The guys could have been taught to enjoy giving other men head and women could have been taught to enjoy doing so to other women. Is that what you guys really think?

Everyone's looking for some kind of predictable reason that homosexuality exist, other than that it's entirely natural. Personally, as a straight woman, I think that's utter BS.

You need to read this book:

The Trouble with Nature: Sex in Science and Popular Culture by Roger Lancaster

Homosexuality has always existed, througout time, in every society and culture - it's just how we view it that varies (sin, not a sin, normal, abnormal, etc.) Religion distorts, and some of these bizarre studies are usually based on a small sample. Sexuality exists in human beings as a natural facet of who we are - we all have different preferences, things that attract us, fetishes, and so forth - somehow the genitals become the facet, out of millions of facets of sexuality that stands out.

SUZI_N: What PROOF do you have that a god would never allow a homosexual child to be born??? And just what kind of god DO you worship??? If a god would never allow a homosexual to be born, then explain my existence and the existence of every single gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transexual on this planet! EXPLAIN IT!!!

This article and the research behind it suggests that homosexuality starts in the womb. That's right, when you get ready to have a child, there is a chance your child may be gay - regardless of this research study (article). If you could find out ahead of time whether or not your child was homosexual, how would you rid yourself of it? Would you abort it in a clinic, or would you cut it out of yourself? Would you go to hell for having a gay child even though you had no control over that? Would you simply shake your fists at "god" and scream "WHY?!"?

If the child is born and is in fact, gay, but has committed no sin -(perhaps because they're freakin' BABIES and are INCAPABLE of sin, you stupid cee.u.next.tuesday!), --you're suggesting that a god would not have allowed that to happen, and even if it did, that the child cannot go to heaven because it is a sinner - EVEN THOUGH IT HAS COMMITTED NO SIN??!! WTF kind of god to you worship???!!!

Well, if that's the case, I'm sure there's a special place in hell for your type, too.

The research actually shows that there is a small percentage increase, in men that have older brothers of the same mother and father, of homosexuality. It's rather shaky, in my opinion. It seems coincidental to me.

I saw that on the news. There has been speculation as to levels of testosterone and other important hormones being at different levels during pregnancy, or different between pregnancies. I think the study and hypothesis they did is perfectly plausible.

PS people. the study they did doesn't say it's "genetic". It has to do with how pregnancies change successively from one to the next.

Well I would have to say what about the homosexuals that don't fall under this catagory what will be thier reason. It is still a choice, just as it is with a heterosexual as to who they will have sex with and when.
Why would God say in scripture that this is sin and then make someone homosexual??? Something just is not washing. It is a choice.

Its not in the genes BUT there is a physiological "bend" towards the opposite sex which can be turned back only if done early in the childhood otherwise unmet needs become habits and habits become lifestyle.

So, because my half-brother and I share the same mother that's why I'm only bisexual? Interesting, but not conclusive, going by some of the answers which preceded mine.

That's just stupid... it has nothing to do with it.

Try using a little logic next time, please.

I mean really. All of the homosexuals I know are the oldest of their siblings, which destroys that "theory".
