anti pasta (this word does not exist , it probably is just us americans spelling it wrong)
anti pasti and pasto are the same
Any of a variety of cold food such as marinated vegetables and fish, pork sausage, mushroom salad, etc served either as a cocktail snack or at the beginning of a meal to sharpen the appetite.
Some specify cold other sites do not list it as cold

Anti pasta is an appetizer that's eaten before the meal. I was told it stands for no pasta. I'm not sure, but I think pasta, pasti and pasto are just language variations from different regions.

In traditional Italian cuisine, "antipasto" is the course served before the pasta course. Its basically appetizers or hors d'oeuvres.
The traditional dinner menu goes:
Antipasto -- appetizers
Primo -- a hot dish like pasta, risotto or soup
Secondo -- a second course, usually fish or meat.
Contorno -- side dish, served with or after the secondo. Usually a salad of vegetable dish.
Dolce -- dessert
Caffe -- coffee. Espresso, amari, grappa.

Typically they are 1 & the same. Translates from Italian meaning befor the pasta. So it is an appetizer. I just finished making 26 jars yesterday. In mine I put black & green olives ,gherkins, pearl onions, mushrooms, carrots, green beans, cauliflower, with a ketchup base. Upon opening the jar you can add a can of drained tuna or shrimp & put a dollop on a cracker of your choice.......YUMMY
