My cat is a Bengal (the domesticated cat, not the tiger). She loves water, and I have heard stories from other owners of Bengals about the water spray not working at all. In fact, one owner said that now her Bengals won't drink from anything but the spray bottle!

What can I use instead of water in the spray bottle?

And I refuse to use violence as discipline with children or animals. In the end, it doesn't do anything but make them fear you. No newspapers, whips, or sticks for me.

Try clapping your hands together and saying "no" in a rough manner. Another method is making a hissing sound such as 'psst!" and shooing them away might work.

Bitter apple spray can be found at all pet stores and might be a good deterrent or a citrus spray. The strong scents tend to be unpleasant. Our one cat loves the spray bottle but hates the smell of oranges/citrus, so we keep fresh fruit around. It gives us vitamin C and he leaves the area quickly. ; )

well you wont know till you try it,and if they get thirsty enough thet WILL drink from there source of water. But what exactly is the cat doing?getting on counters? Try putting tape rolled, stickey side out and when they step on it,it will stick to them and they wont like it.OR my sister use mouse traps w/ newspaper ONTOP of the traps so if they touched the paper it set the traps off and scared the cat.

You could use the ole "coins in a can trick". My cat is an orange tabby and loves water, it doesn't work for him either. A can full of coins being shaken gets his attention and deters alot of his bad bahavior. Just shake it loudly behind him, does the trick.

You could also try white vinegar in the spray bottle. Most cats hate it.

Take a small container and put some pennies it in. Whenever the cat does something you don't want her to do, shake it near her (to scare her away).

A loud shaker, most animals hate loud noises. Be sure you only use it when you catch her doing something she's not supposed to, and praise for good behavior.
