do ground/milled flaxseed lose its flavor or nutritious as they're being cut up?! do they taste any different?

Whole flaxseeds are unable to be digested unless you chew everyone of them which is almost impossible. So its best to grind them yourself before using them. Once they are ground, the oil in them goes bad in a few weeks depending on temperature etc. Similar to olive oil.

Some of the ground ones come in a vacuum packed container with all the air taken out. Once you open the package it should be refrigerated. That's the down side. The up side is that they are one of the healthiest things you can consume.

Grinding the flax seed is better for you because you get more nutrients from them. Golden flax seed is better for you than the other. I buy them whole and use a grinder to grind them. The flavor is not changed and nothing is lost from the grinding. Your body absorbs the nutrients better when they are ground.
