He goes to bed around 8:30 - 9:00, by the time I get to bed it seems like he's right back up. i'm not positive but i'm thinking it's his teeth. when he starts to cry it looks as if hes still sleeping, but if I don't comfort him in some way- rocking, patting his back, or just plain hold him- he doesn't stop fussing. Is it his teeth?

If he is teething, then the nights are usually the worse because during the day they are occupied with other stimulation so the pain does not bother them that much..try giving him Motrin at night and if he wakes up after three hours give Tylenol, you know alternating, during the day take a wash cloth or his wash cloth and put a piece of ice in it, use a rubber band to make like a ice ball and let him chew on it... this always helped with my children...the texture of the wash cloth and the coldness helps with the pain... cheaper then teething toys that they usually don't care for anyway... hope this helps...

A baby swing is great for times like this. there are also teething tablets that are the greatest. They dissovle in the mouth and they really do help. Also this works great, take a clean tube sock and put a couple of ice cubes in it. My babies would love the ice and the sock would also give them texture. It helped many times and holds up better then any store bought ice teether. Good luck and hang in there, it does get better.

hylands all natural teething tablets only calm baby. they are worth trying but only worked on my son for like a week and then didn't do a thing. they make these little water babies teething animals at walmart for like a buck. you can feeze them and let them chew on them. they have a plastic piece they can hold on to so their hands don't get cold. baby oral gel works well also. the best is tylenol or motrin when they get really fussy. teething is hard reguardless of what you do, sometimes you just have to tough it out. i didn't like loading my son up on pain killers and after awhile i just toughed it out and would only give tylenol when absolutly needed. sometimes i would take my finger and rub his gums. i was there when he needed me and was extra attentive when he was in pain but there is not much else you can do... it's really sad to see your child be in pain and fussy but it'll be over before you know it! good luck =)

Sounds like teeth but I would speak to your doctor or health visitor to check. You can also run your fingers round his mouth to see if you can feel hard bumps or look in to see the whites coming thru. If teeth try Teething Gel from Pharmacist or you can get herbal granules/powder to sprinkle in his mouth. A pacifier. Cold cucumber chunks to gum on. My 9 month old son loves to chew/bite wooden toys or his favourite blankie - see the giraffe blankie and wooden toys on on the Tish Tash Toys website. Also - remember - it doesn't last forever!

sounds like it might be! Check out Hylands teething tablets. I purchased them from Rite aid. They're a homeopathic pain reliever.

Of course you can always use infant tylenol.

Could be, check his gums gently with your well-washed fingers. There's a special medicine sold in pharmacies that is rubbed on the gums to soothe them.
