Are Atheists smart or stupid?

It depends on the person. I know some atheists that could graduate high school with a 4.6 GPA with all honors and AP courses, yet there were die-hard Catholics that couldn't pass a grade or a class to save their life.

But whatever you do, don't judge like so many other people on here. Just let everyone be who they want to be.

On average, they are the smartest group. Most people never develop the higher-order thinking skills required to think rationally about religion. If someone is able to think well enough to become an athiest, he is at least in the top half by IQ. There are lots of smart people who choose not to apply their reason to religion though. The truth is too painful for them.

PS: Believing in something just because you can't disprove it is almost the definition of irrational. You are an idiot whoever wrote that.

Some athiests are smart, some are stupid, and some are of average intelligence and many are somewhere else on the spectrum, just like theists. Religion has little to do with intelligence.

Well in my opinion Stupid, and here is why:

If they were smart they would realize that there is no way to prove there is no God. Since that is true, then they are dumb not to believe in him, because if it turns out that there is a God (which I know and believe to be true) at the end of their lives, they will pay dearly for not believing.

However if they believe and it turns out no God exists (Highly unlikely) than there is no harm done, in fact it may have enriched their lives to live ttheir life in a Christian way (do unto others as you'd have done unto you) and always have hope that everything happens for a reason.

Atheists tend to think more or themselves, thus utilizing their brains more, and thus becoming smarter.

Those who are religious, never need to use their brains because they think the answer to every question is god.

In other words, atheists develop their minds, whereas theists do not.

Believe it or not, the stupidest person I ever met was a missionary in China. We were having a, "discussion," and during it, he said, "I don't believe in fossils because I have never seen one."
