I am not sure but I think one can be healed from hepatits C and get reinfected, due to the different genotipes of HCV and the lack of lifelong immunity. Hepatitis A normally gives long-time immunity but does it really give LIFE-LONG immunity? Can someone have hepatitis A two times??? As for hepatitis B, I have no idea. Please answer, it is an emergency! Thanx.

Each of these diseases is a virus, which means you are NEVER cured. Hepatitis A is the only one that has a vaccination, but it is only effective if received before the initial exposure to the virus. To know whether or not you have immunity to Hep A from the vaccination is to do a simple blood test for Hep A antibody titer. A titer means the test will see how many antibodies you have, and will determine if you have enough or if you need a booster shot.

* HCV positive persons should be evaluated by their doctor for liver disease.
* Interferon and ribavirin are two drugs licensed for the treatment of persons with chronic hepatitis C.
* Interferon can be taken alone or in combination with ribavirin. Combination therapy, using pegylated interferon and ribavirin, is currently the treatment of choice.
* Combination therapy can get rid of the virus in up to 5 out of 10 persons for genotype 1 and in up to 8 out of 10 persons for genotype 2 and 3.
* Drinking alcohol can make your liver disease worse.
For Hep A, once you have it depending on your immune system you may have life-long immunity (it is referred to active acquired immunity). For some reason some people do not maintain immunity either when they have had a virus or when they have had an immunization.
Hepatitis B, if you have had it is similar to Hepatitis C. Hepatitis B and A have vaccines, which for most will give them life time immunity, but some people will need to have what is called a "booster" shot of the vaccine.
If you are concerned that you may have acquired Hepatitis you should see your health care provider, or you can also go to your local health department and they can test your blood for the presence of the virus and also if the virus is found they can also assess for any liver damage or problems.

Yes, it is possible to have all three.
Hep B is usually chronic (you carry it for a long time) and be buried deep in the liver and symptoms may reappear years later
and a person may be positive for antibodies, but still flare up later in life. Hep A and C are usually acute (short-term) and it is possible to become reinfected with all three types and some newer types that are being discovered. Good thing is that there are good treatments for Hep A and Hep B (althougt hep B can be buried very deep in the liver and difficult for the immune activating treatments to get the immune system to even see the infection. Hep C has treatment options, but they are not as good, but still effective in many cases.

I am not positively sure, but miracles do happen daily. I have known two individuals that were diagnosed HIV + and after 3 years of treatment both found out that their HIV status was no more.
