Please folks, this is a serious question, we are not joking about this question. I know it may sound dumb to some of you. But my parents and I have a frozen whole turkey still in the bag from the store. We do not have an oven big enough to cook a whole turkey in. So there for we are going to have to cut the turkey in half in order to cook it and we only want to cook half of it right now. I know we can just thaw out the whole turkey and then cut it in half with a sharp knife, but we only want to cook half of it right now and leave the other half frozen until a later date. The oven in our stove has burned out and don't have the money right now to get it fixed. We want to cook the half of turkey in a our toaster oven. The whole turkey will not fit in it, only half will fit. Any body out there have any ideals of how to cut a frozen turkey in half?

Someone here has said that you can't cook a turkey in a toaster oven. But I did do just that at my father-in-laws house this last Christmas. But he lives to far away for me to take the turkey to his house. We put it on rotisserie and cooked it just fine. Our ovens go from 450 degrees to max. So yes the toaster oven will cook a turkey, even comes with cooking direction to cook one in it.

For those of you that thought this was a joke, it's not a joke I am as serious as a heart attack about this. I'm 49 and both my parents have suffered strokes since the death of my brother. We were going to cook the turkey untill this happened and then the oven went out in the stove to boot. I did not like being called dumb either. Thanks to the ones that were being nice about this.

You'll need power tools. Don't use a chainsaw, because they oil themselves and that will get on the turkey. Use a jigsaw or reciprocating saw, and make sure you clean the blade carefully before you do it. If you don't have powertools, a hack saw might be able to do it if it's big enough. Clean it with alcohol if you have any. Also, the turkey will be slippery, so be very careful that you don't slip and hurt yourself. Happy Half-a-Thanksgiving!

Omg....how dumb are you people. First off, you would need an industrial size meat cutter to cut the turkey in half. Secondly, you can not cook the turkey in a toaster oven. Why did you buy it if you do not have an oven that works?

This may sound strange...but I would try dropping the turkey from a distance onto a solid smooth object. The turkey needs to be protected by some sort of bag when it breaks but at least you will get some of the frozen turkey and leave the rest intact. Drop it on the breast and make sure there is enough force to crack it. There is also the option of a chisel and hammer...

Bandsaw or table saw. I can't imagine cutting a frozen turkey any other way... You would need an industrial tool or a hack saw at the very least.

You can't cook a turkey in a toaster oven. You'll get sick! Toaster ovens will never get the middle meat to 130F.

Not sure how to cut it in half, but lots of people don't want to cook a whole turkey, just half for a couple of people, and it's cheaper to buy a whole than a half or turkey breast. As for cooking it in a toaster oven, I have a large one, and it does the job just fine, goes up to 450, so what's the problem. Use a thermometer to check it's done. Not always one way to do a job.

I agree with Scooter. You're going to need a power tool of some sort because a frozen turkey is essentially a huge block of ice.

You could try a sawsall (reciprocating saw).

Another option would be to go to your local butcher and ask them if they have a tool equal to the task and if they're willing to do it for you.

We usually get our turkeys cut in half before we bring them home. The butcher/meat department at your local grocery store can do it for you....they use a big saw. Maybe you could get your mom or dad to run it back to the store where they bought it and have it cut in half and drive home and stick half of it back in the freezer and the other half in the fridge to defrost?

use a saw but it is going to be hard to do. Maybe ask a neighbor ir a friend if you can cook it at there house then freeze the rest after its cooked

If you are serious...
A electric knife or a electric saw.
You must thaw it out first I would think.

Good Luck!!!! Cornish hens are not that expensive and they are tasty each person can purchase their own.

Do you a rotissiere oven? They are great!!!!

Have you tried cooking it on a barbecue?

What about a hot knife? Run hot water on the knife and cut.
