It depends on what you're into.
I don't like "mainstream" Christian music. I think that they take what was popular 10 years ago and copy it. Most Christian music is lame. Even P.O.D. is pretty lame. However, there are some *great* artists out there that fall out of the mainstream. My music taste varies widely, so do the types of Christian bands out there. Here are a few:

Some hardcore bands that I have been listening to are As I Lay Dying, Haste the Day, Norma Jean, etc. Although these are Christian artists, some of them praise God more than others in their lyrics. In this vein, some poeple also like Underoath, but I don't.

As far as hip-hop goes, check out my girlfriend's favorite artist, Pigeon John. Also L.A. Symphony.

As far as indie music goes, my favorite is Sufjan Stevens. He released a Christian-folk album called Seven Swans. It's personal, beautiful and profound. He's better known for his last album that he released: Illinois. The Danielson Familie is wierd, but also indie. Check out Pedro the Lion.

Depends on your tastes really, doesn't it!

If you are looking for worship music then Matt Redmond and Chris Tomlin are my favourites. If you just want some music to listen to then...

Reliant K are a bit Fallout boyish
Jars of clay are pop rock/alternative
I've heard a lot of good stuff about Switchfoot, but I haven't actually heard them myself
Creed are in a similar vein to Metallica with hard rock and an electricky feel
Band With No Name are good but they're quite teenagey... in their own words they're 'rock, breakbeat, garage and hiphop'
The Normals are more mellow, sort of soft rock/alt, influences like radiohead and U2
Stavesacre... i'm not really sure how to describe them but they're worth a look up
and of course you've got bands like U2 and Athlete who are Christian bands but aren't necessarily Christian music...

oh, and Cliff Richard, if you're into that kind of thing...

If you like, there is this Christian radio station Star 99.1 fm.com and it has a mixture of current Christian music. It also has an option to view the songs that are played throughout the day. I believe all Christian music is good as long as it is praising the Lord. Hope this helps.

I think it is. It depends on what kind of music you like to listen to. They have different styles. Just try it & decide for yourself. If you were a Christian you'd appreciate it much more, because the meaning of it is not about shallow stuff. It's about God!

Elvis: Amazing Grace (double album) His Greatest Sacred Performances. RCA 1994 BMG Music. Compilation produced by Ernst Mikael Jorgensen, Roger Seman and Paul Williams. Remastered at BMG Studios New York.

It is the best... 56 songs that are seriously the best... it is my bible of songs, it restores my soul, has kept me sane and safe and lifted spiritually.

I would never part with my copy.

Hope you can find one:-)
