Don't take your toddler to the movies. It might not be bad on their ears, but it's bad for everyone elses. No one pays for a movie ticket to hear someones kid yelling, crying or jabbering. If you can't afford a babysitter, wait for the dvd...
Note: Princess, if you love your child so much, then you wouldn't stick her in a seat in the dark to watch a movie that she has no interest in - I suppose kids movies are different, but when movie tickets are $13, it's just rude. No offense but, you can pretend that you're righteous, and that you "love" your child...but in reality, you're just being inconsiderate.

I have a 19 month old and I won't take him to the movies for another few years. It hurts MY ears...I know it would hurt his. Princess is being somewhat self absorbed, in my opinion. If you don't have a babysitter, don't go to the movies. It was about a year after my son was born that I finally went to see a movie in the theatre. I love and adore my son and love to spend all the time I can with him but I also have respect for others (not to mention that I need "me" time and we need "us" time every couple of months). My husband and I went to see a movie a few days ago and there was a 3 year old sitting by us. We weren't thrilled but didn't complain either. The child was pretty good but couldn't sit still and quiet that long so when he started acting up, Dad took him out of the theatre. Now how is Dad going to enjoy the movie?? He isn't. Someone always loses out. Not to mention, most movies aren't suited for children that young. So the BEST thing is to NOT bring your child to the theater.

my sons first movie was whe he was about 19 months, we went to see chicken little. he loved it. and we've seen many movies since then. we even went to see the lion the witch and the wardrobe with my husband and my 4 year old and it had some pretty loud parts in it, but my younger son (20 months at the time) slept through the most action packed part (the last 45 minutes or so) with no problem.

very much so.
but yes, there are a lot of theatres that provide baby-friendly movies... the volume is turned way down, theres stroller parking, and if there baby cries, many place have asoundproof adjacent room. You can see the movie, there's an audio feed into the room, but the baby doesn't disturb anyone.

Probably not...but good luck to you if you can get a 20 month old to sit through an entire movie. You're a brave soul!

betty obviously dont have kids, some people take their kids because they love being with them rather then leaving then at the babysitters and not everyone has someone to babysit...........it should be ok, my daughter is 17 months and we took her to see x-men 3, she was very good, i just took some of her favorite snacks and some water for her to drink.....she behaved better than alot of the rude *** adults that were there, i was telling them to "shhhhh" more then i had to tell her..

Nope...
I always use myself as the measurement. If the sound isn't too loud for me then it should be okay for the baby.
