if you have a 2 liter bottle of diet pepsi or diet coke, and Mentos. you open the bottle, stick two or three Mentos in and the bottle. (then take a few steps away from the bottle)
you'll get quite a reaction out of it.
Note: it is safe, but do it outdoors as you'll have sode all over you, and what ever it is near by.

I did it once when I bought mentos and diet pepsi (I actually had NO clue about this mentos and cola thing) and when I was like half done with my pepsi, my brother told me about it, and I put one mento in, and it happened, but since there wasn't a lot of both ingredients, it didn't go a million feet in the air or whatever. And a day later we got some pepsi and sour mentos, and we tried that, but it didn't do anything. I think it's the sour mentos, and they don't really taste very good.

Ive done it. My friend put a sugar cube in his coke to make it sweeter and the same thing happened. Its just the sugar coating. You should be able to do it with tic-tacs, sour patch, skittles, or anything with sugar.
