they are alot of money, after awhile, it breaks down. I rather use a cheap litter box. save your money. I agree with the one above me. they do make alot of noise and the cats keep going in and out.

I have a litter maid, a free size large with the tent. it is so cute and the cats all ues it. i moved into an apt last fall and had 6 abandoned cats that i took in at various times until spayed or neutered and new home could be found. two had kittens here in my three room apt. they used the box too without any problem. the only thing i can say bad about them is the recepticle for lumps is not very large, and with two full time cats i have to dump every three days. the reason my box was free, is that the company stands behind their product! my first smaller, open unit quit working. i called the 800 number, and within ten days had a new delux model. i have both male and female cats. PS by the way, i take it apart only 2 times a year to clean. no odor, they are great!

I haven't tried it, but it would be a cool thing if it worked. My mom asked me once if I wanted one for my house and my immediate response was, "Oh yes, and the first time that thing autmatically goes off and my scaredy cat is in there, she'll NEVER go near a litter box again." If it truly does work, that would be awesome. I just always thought it was a great idea in THEORY, but practice would be a bit different. Kinda like when a friend gave me a "pet vacuum" attachment one year (I had long-haired cats). I said, "That's a really wonderful thought but... um... I have CATS." And cats (in general) are known to fear the dreaded vacuum monster more than any other predator they might encounter.

i have heard that the works or the slide thingy gets gummed up and stops working. besides boy cats either pee over the egde or up the back of a lid on a pan. i did find an electronic litterbox on line that was round and turned like a cement mixer a few minutes after the cat gets out. it costs like $300 if i remember rightly and was also made with big males in mind too. i researched it and it seemed like it would meet all me demands of an electronic litterbox and i just need to save up for it.
www.litter-robot.com it looks fabulous and it is the only electronic
litter box i would get. it has a 5 star rating for how well it works. i think it will be well worth the extra money. check out the website!

There is one major problem, the cat really enjoys watching it work...so it cleans, he gets in and out again to watch it work. Very annoying since it makes noise when it runs. And it causes the cat to track a lot more litter over the house.

The concept is good. However, when they first hit the market there were numerous malfunctions. And my mother never could get her houseful of cats to use the thing for very long.

Keep in mind that this was between 10 and 15 years ago, so there may have been improvements since then.

I loved my Litter maid. BUT, then it stopped working. I did trouble-shooting. Took it all apart and washed it thoroughly and dried it thoroughly. I just would not work. So, I bought another one. The same thing happened. I have a boy kitty who's aim isn't always the greatest, so I think he might have shorted both of the boxes out. Try it, I loved when it worked!

No it is not. It has so many problems. it takes so much cat litter with it when it cleans it seems like you have to add more every day. All though i do have four cats.

I haven't tried it but my friend had the same problem as ambullmom. Maybe it's just a thing with male cats.
