The Tenth commandment says:

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's
house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's
wife, nor his manservant, nor his
maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor
any thing that is thy neighbour's.

True Jesus preaches to help and feed the poor but can someone please give me a reference of where the Bible states that one can commit a crime or steal (8th commandment) because they're seeking a better life?

I'm truly interested in understanding where this logic is coming from. Please refrain from opinions this board if full of them. Just send me the religious reference that I can read that justifies the actions of illegal immigrants breaking laws and stealing (SSNs) is justified because they're poor.

not all are for illegal immigration i guess you take scriptures and justify anything but i think god would tell mexico to help themselves and admitt wrong doing in this as well!

Oh Lord God Almighty, the supply and supplier of faith and freedom, how excellent is Your name in all the earth. You are great and greatly to be praised. God, as we conclude this 55th inaugural ceremony, we conclude it with an attitude of thanksgiving. Thank You for protecting America's borders. After all, the Psalmist reminds us, unless You, O God, guard the territory, our efforts will be in vain.
Exodus 23:20-31 "I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the River. I will hand over to you the people who live in the land and you will drive them out before you.

Exodus 20:12-17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

Proverbs 25:17-17 17 "Seldom set foot in your neighbor's house-- too much of you, and he will hate you."

Leviticous 19:11-"'Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly."

and yes jesus said help the poor but he never said let anyone run over you.
The Bible never supports people tresspassing into others lands in an inappropriate manner. The Bible never supported open borders for the Bible says that boundaries were ordained of God. It was the Tower of Babel that promoted an open border system

I am Christian too, and I do know some who use "compassion" as the reasoning. I am not for illegal immigration and I think these people are sometimes misguided by people who want to keep their church coffers full with illegal immigrant money(read especially Catholic Church). However, Christianity teaches we must honor our king, respect the laws, and "render unto Ceasar the things which are Ceasar's." We CAN have compassion for people while insisting they follow our laws. People who say otherwise merely take the teachings of biased church officials to heart without first thinking for themselves.

you guys really do not get it. If you live in a country where people had to live on half your monthly paycheck and you had a neighbor next door to you who has free speech, rights to a lawyer, good pay, etc. you would illegaly emigrate too. Martin Luther King broke laws to secure freedom. So did George Washington. Are these people unjustified in their actions by the bible for breaking laws. No, we honor them. It is true, what the illegals are doing is technically breaking the law but they need to do so in order to live a stable life.

Mendi-You say stop quoting the bible to this post and than you say "do what Jesus wanted? "
Do you talk for him? I haven't read he wanted this one way or another

To the asker of the Question----It is a moral issue and many hate that kind--it means self examination and some don't like it. But will argue it by Scriptures-it is the whole book that should be used. Morally those who support "law breaking and doers" are not right to do so-not by God. They can justify it to him not me.

I will enjoy the answers- nice

I am proud to say that I am a Christian and I am against illegal immigration. I have also come under fire as Christian for taking a stand against these criminals by other Christians of all things. Open your eyes people. The illegals are breaking several laws to be here and are a threat to national security.

Don't know what Jesus would have wanted ...as far as I know, he didn't work himself and lived largely on charity ... :) But having said that, those of you who want to "help" in the name of Jesus could go down to Mexico and hand out largesse there if you like ... and I would very much doubt if all the illegals coming over our borders are what we call poor ... the drug smugglers? The paper fakers? Nahhhhhh ... there may well be some poor ones among them, and they would do well reading their own Constitution, it has many excellent things in it ... and demand their OWN government adheres to their constitution, as we should adhere to our constitution and our laws!

I am a Christan..

Well, its a question of following God's law or man's law. Which is better? What would Jesus do with these people?

"Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God."

Did Jesus ever turn anyone away? He didn't, he came for the poor, weak and wary....He didn't come for the strong because he knew they would reject him and they did....

Isn't Christianity about compassion and humanity?

I'm a Christian, and around lots of them, and have never heard anyone for illegal immigration. I think it's wrong, and in general should all be sent home.
