We've paid for a hol package but have been informed that our flights have been cancelled. The offered alternatives will cost more.
Should we have to pay this?

The holiday is 11 weeks away. An alternative departure airport was offered but this will incure additional travelling expenses. The other alternative is to change dates completely & incure an extra charge of GB£340. Should the shop pay this?

Unfortunately, the answer is most likely yes. When you book a trip as a "package", you are subject to the terms and conditions of the tour operator, who can impose different rules than an airline or hotel. Their cancellation policies for example, may require up to 45 days notice, while a regular hotel usually only asks for 24 hours or so. You'll have to look at the carriage contract of the operator or agency you bought this package from.

if the alternative airport departure is less than paying additional 340 then i would go for that rather than pay extra for something that was not your fault by a airline being cancelled.

I now always build my own package via www.xl.com and www.hotelopia.co.uk or www.medhotels.com much cheaper too
hope this helps
