if you want to breed RESPONSIBLY, wait until your dog is at least 2 to ensure she's healthy (no physical problems she could pass onto the puppies, like hip dysplesia). Then find a male who is the same breed and have the owners of that dog make sure he's healthy (again, so the puppies are healthy.)

My vet recommended 2 years b4 breeding. Also, when and if you have your chiuahua bred, keep her under a vet's care. The smaller breed the dog, the greater the risk of complications and even death of the dame. Good luck!

Since a dog is old enough to be spayed at 5-6 months, I would say after the first year would be okay, although I don't have any experience with dogs in that capacity. Please remember that the older a dog gets, the harder it is on their bodies to breed as well as have surgeries, so having your dog spayed around the age of 5 or 6 will help prolong her life.

Dogs age 7 years to every one of our years. Your dog in human years is 7 years old, would you let your sister, or your daughter have a baby at 7 years old? Wait til' she's at least 2, she will be completely grown and more mature to handle puppies. And her body will be able to adjust to the changes more peacefully.

Most breeders wait til 2 years old. Some as early as 18 months but that is rare.
