My husband fell in love with an American... Something he swore he'd never do as he grew up watching the annoying American tourists come through his town. We're celebrating our 1st anniversary in 2 weeks. :) Go for it, just be prepared to work with a little culture clash on occasion.

If I fell in love with an American I'd have to be one myself, in which case I'd eat too much, own a gun, drive everywhere, not care about anywhere else than the country I lived in, be astoundingly naiive, not understand the concept of irony, in all likelihood not own a passport, be abusive to Polish, Mexican and Canadian people for no easily discernible reason, have an extensive knowlege of popular culture and very little else, go absolutely bananas if anyone so much as frowned near my flag, and never switch my many TVs off, ever.

American Married 3 times first wife was from El Salvador (widowed)
second wife from England (divorced thank all the gods, and their friends)
3rd wife also English
But My dad is Canadian and My mom is Finnish
I don't think any one but me is a foreigner
Where ever you go is home.

If I absolutely HAD to fall in love with an American, - no get-out clause, jumping off a cliff or promising to do the washing-up for the next 100YEARS to get out of it, then I'd thank the lordy that they weren't Canadian, or worse still, French!!!!!
