I'm a prison nurse and one of the pedophiles got beaten. He is in chronic pain and the vicodin isn't cutting it he says. I told the doctor who proceeded to not do anything. Made me happy. Is that wrong?

I did tell the doctor. Which is all I can do. So I did my job. I'm just happy is all.

Yes it's wrong. You are fighting fire with fire which puts you and him in the same boat. Take the higher road.

Put yourself in the pedophiles position. If u were him and u got beaten and your nurse told the doctor and he did nothing and your nurse was happy about that, how would u feel? I'm not saying u don't have a right to be happy for a pedophiles suffering, he's a pedophile, but at the same time, u wouldn't like it if u were in his position. Remember, it's not up to u to punish and judge. it's up to God!!!

Many psych and sociology people will tell you you're being a bit sadistic and cruel for revelling in someone else's misery, so that makes you just as bad as he is. However... I can completely understand why you'd feel a little joy at giving this creep a taste of his own medicine...make him suffer a little like he did those innocent children. So even if some might consider it "wrong" to be happy the guy didn't get his "extra" meds, I think it's a perfectly normal reaction given the particular circumstances. Maybe you guys also just don't want to feed the guy's addiction to painkillers? Don't know, JMHO.

I don't know if you have ever watched Prison Break, but I can never think of prisoners the same since then. I have a much more biased opinion now, and view the prisoners differently. I try to take in their entire life, their background, and put it in perspective. I don't think that I would be happy. Then again, this is real life and not a show, perhaps I would be happy too. But it's still not "right." He's still a person, and no matter who he is and what he's done, he still has good attributes, and we should see that. And even love (no, ESPECIALLY love) our enemies. We should not wish ill on them. What goes around comes around.

My grandfather and a half-uncle raped me( or something! ) when I was really little - about 3 or 4! Of course I don't remember the details. I must have blocked it out! However, whatever they did scared me enough about sex til I was 31 - I'm 37 now.
I DO NOT think you're wrong! Dirty bugger deserves all the pain he gets! Don't feel guilty. Pedophiles are the worst kind of scum on the Earth!

I am sorry but I think you violated your hypocritic oath and shame on you for reveling in another human beings pain. If I knew where you lived I would report you to the State Nursing Board.

Two wrongs do not make a right. Yes the man was wrong for molestation of children, but the person(s) who beat him are also wrong for beating him, as you are for not having compassion for the man's pain.

No honey...even being a nurse, no one would expect you to feel any love for a pedophile. Actually...you were much nicer than alot of people would have been. It is a custom in prisons to abuse the pedophiles ...everyone does it.

I understand your position and respect it. Honestly, I don't think I could do what you do. I work with a lot of prison employees and it's tough. However, it seems like you're in a position you can't handle. You've got a sworn duty to treat these patients and assist in their well-being. I don't believe you can let your judgment of their character based on past actions dictate you doing your job. It puts you in a compromising position as you're taking the role of law enforcer. That's not your role and it's inappropriate for you to act that way, in my opinion. I don't blame you and I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing, but it seems that if you can't handle your position appropriately and professionally, then maybe you're in the wrong line of work.

Just my opinion.

It is wrong. Inflicting pain on someone is inhumane. Do your job and get the pedophile cured. No matter what he did to go into prison.

nothing's wrong with it. you did your job by telling the doctor anyway. Who's to say nurses, doctors, or police can't be judgemental or feelings when dealing with these guys. You can't stop your own feelings(it's something that happening inside of you as long as you don't act out on it), you, however, still can do your job and did do your job anyway.

A pedophile is the worse kind of criminal there is. He should have known that if he was caught he would have gone to jail and that other criminals hate pedophiles and he would have hell to pay in getting beaten up several times. You did your job by reporting it. You can't help your feelings and NONE OF US ARE PERFECT. Don't let him beat you up by beating yourself up as that is what it amounts to. He has his hell to pay and maybe he is paying it now.
