When playing my sims 2 games(university, nightlife, and open for business) when it is loading (ex. Loading Pleasantview) it takes really long. I just installed my open for business expansion pack and love it but it makes it really slow, and I have just now realized how slow i makes things load. Please help me see if this is normal and if not, what I can do to fix it. Thanks!

Also, post an answer here and if you'd like email it to me, to make sure I get it...my email address is emilysiegel94@yahoo.com.

Make sure your processor, ram, and video cards meet the minimum requirements as specified on the last expansion pack you installed. Kill all the processes running in the background that you don't need for your computer to function (research these processes and what they are doing before you stop them) by selecting CTRL+ALT+DEL at once if you are in Windows. You will find running processes in the task manager but you may have to navigate through the tabs and that depends on your OS. If all that doesn't help you, try adding more RAM in excess of what you already have. I have a 3+ GHz processor and 1 Gig ram and my load time is 3-5 minutes when I start up. I just start it and find something else to do until it comes up.

Do not buy a processor for speed.. You need memory for speed. If you have lots of custom content installed this will also slow your game load time down if you don't have sufficient memory. The game specs says 256K but I would recommend at least a 512K to 1GB of memory for the game to act properly. A good video card is also needed and sound card helps. These things take strain off of your processor and allow it to breath. Make sure your PC is in a well ventilated area as well. Even in The Sims 1 the more expansions you add the slower the game would load because of all the new content and files. You should check out http://www.tigerdirect.com for good deals on these items. Try this site as well http://www.newegg.com .

in the manual, there's a way to delete some processes to make the game go faster. However, the game still takes a while to load.

You should have included what processor you have, how much RAM you have, what chip you have, etc. also sims2ea is a good site to go to. it's the official site. They have forums which are real helpful also. good luck

no matter what i have done with sims 2 it takes a verrrry long time to load too. however, to help the problem you can delete things on your computer that are not necessary to free up some memory so it is quicker. otherwise, just be patient because the game is worth the patience :)

An exorbitant amount of downloads will significantly slow down your game.
