my female kitty keeps on attacking my yukka plant and has shredded the leaves completely! have heard that they are poisonous, but dont know!

my cat was poisonous to my yukka,ate and killed it the fucker,that was 2 years ago so think ur moggy has all lives intact

No, although I think cats are poisonous to yukka plants! Our cat completely shredded ours, chewed the leaves, used the 'trunk' as a scratching post and then the pot as a litter tray. I wonder if its some long standing cat/yukka war...

Yukka plants arent poisonous as they form edible parts such as fruit and seeds so i wouldnt b 2 worried. Most of the times animals will stay well away from poisonous plants as they dont taste very nice.

I'd say its the other way round, my two cats (one is a kitten) have shredded the leaves, they were fine, and since I trained them not to do it, they have stopped and the Yukka is growing again, but he hisses at the cats when they get too close.

I am not sure, but to be on the safe side I would put the plant outside (or the cat!)
I have had a plant that is poisonous to cats but they never went near it!
If it was me I would remove the plant probably just to save cleaning up the mess and to try and save the plant!

no they are not, i have 3 cats and 5 yukka's and they are all still alive ;-)

If you google "yucca + cat" you'll see its used as a medicine, so its probably safe but why not just ring your vet? They'll answer something like this over the phone.

I have heard they're poisonous to cats too. I have put one in my garden to try and stop them coming in. I hate cats!

i have never heard that they r poisonous spray bitter apple on the leaves & it will get one taste of that & never eat it again however u have 2 spray it every so often read the lable

from the article that i was reading it doesnt say that a yucca is poisonous
