I doubt it.
The chances are the dog will bury it in the garden for a few weeks to 'ripen' first anyway.

If you're referring to raw hide bones, then, you shouldn't give them to your dog. Raw hides are pretty much like junk food for dogs. They will chew & chew until fragments come off and can possibly injure the dog internally. And you wouldn't want to deal with a sick dog especially after seeing the horrendous Vet bill.
If you want a good bone that will help build good teeth and prevent gum disease, try raw bone. It does look gross, but they can chew on it & clean their molars at the same time. It will also help you from trying to brush the dog's teeth. The butcher can cut up pieces good enough for the size of your dog, or you can get them at health pet stores.

Please do not give any kind of bones to your dog. I have assisted in too many surgeries to remove the bone fragment from the dogs intestines. It is very painful plus costly for this kind of surgery. Some dogs are to far gone and do not survive . Find a different treat for your dog , baby carrots, or green beans are good for them. If you want milk bones are OK too.

No, there is nothing harmful that will grow on dog bones, as long as there is no mold.
Dates are just there because the Government agencies require that the maker put some date on all products, eve it the product doesn't spoil. they usually choose the date by the optimum lifespan of the vitamins. So, older foods may have less effective vitamins.
(the USDA man told me that)

Dogs are a bit tougher but they can still get food poisoning. I wouldn't risk it because you could just end up with a dog sick at both ends and vets bills.

my dalmatian thinks it is great to eat horse muck, drink out of toilets, calf placenta etc etc etc & he is not exceptionally gross, just a typical dog. The bone should be fine as long as it isn't mouldy. Expirey dates in animal feed are used to show how long the food should retain its nutrional value for or not go mouldy for.

None whatsoever. Dogs drink out of toilets, happily.
