I think you may be stubborn. So, I'll tell you a story, about a mule who fell in a hole that his owner was digging. The owner found the mule, and began to shovel dirt back into the hole that he dug. As the dirt landed on the mule, it bucked, brayed, and stomped it's hooves. The dirt fell from his back and head, to his feet, where is was packed solid. After a few hours of suffering the falling clods, the mule was able to step out of the hole. It was happy to be saved, but stubbornly refused to thank the man who had dug the hole in the first place.

It is only in Christ that we have liberty. Before you come to Christ, we don't have the liberty to say "no" to our passions. We just run along helter-skelter, like a bee to a flower, going from one thing to another. But In Christ, we have the power to choose. That is liberty!

"And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts. I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved." (Psalm 119:45-47)

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound..." (Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18)

"Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God." (Romans 8:21)

"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." (II Corinthians 3:17)

"And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage..." (Galatians 2:4)

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." (Galatians 5:1)

"For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another." (Galatians 5:13)

"As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God." (I Peter 2:16)

There are many other verses that deal with the whole "Free in Christ" message. These are just to give you an idea of what it's all about. We do have liberty. We do have freedom. We just aren't to use that freedom to indulge ourselves with our passions.
