I think it would depend on why others believed my son/daughter to be gay. Did they see him/her kissing someone of the same sex? Do they know someone of the same sex that claims to be in a relationship with my son/daughter?
I think I would probably sit down with my child and let them know that I believe them - but also let them know that I don't think there's anything wrong with being gay, and that if they ever have any questions, or need to talk, I'm always there for them.

I accept gay/lesbian child. Your parents might not like it at first but they will get used to it over a few years. AFter all there's no way to change it. They will adjust.

Believe your child. Keep communication open with your child. If they are gay or not, ACCEPT THEM for who they are -- we all want our children to be happy, if that is with someone of the same sex, then so be it.

What kind of relationship do you have if you can't trust what your child says?
The important thing is to have a climate of honesty so that you and your child can share all kinds of issues, no matter how difficult or sensitive.

If you tell your child to be honest (and you show them that you mean it) and they still tell you they are straight then you have to believe them. But if you give the stigma that being gay is bad expect them to lie to you;

Whose business is sexual orientation? Not mine, not yours, not anyone's but the people intimately involved. I mean, parents accept their children. Period. Rather, they should.
