I don't think the brand is as important as the shade. Stay on your side of the color wheel. Are you warm? You can tell by looking at your natural hair in the sunlight. Does it have red or gold highlights. If the answer is red, then you are warm and should buy a color on the red side.

If you are cool, buy a color that is on the ash or gold side.
Going darker is often too stark for anybody.

A person always looks best in there natural hair color.
You can always tell when someone has died their hair
even when the roots don't show because they look
unnatural. No matter what your skin tone will never look
right with a different color. Take Lindsay Lohan for
instance she looks dreadful with blond hair! But she looks
great with her naturally red hair.

Rule of thumb is the color of your skin and eyes.
Look through some beauty magazines foe women with your eye and skin tone and go from there. Natural colors are more sexy than hot pink, I think.
