Because the general IQ of the human race is not very high. People don't realize that it is fiction. Kind of the same thing as why people think it's awesome to do dumb stuff they see in movies: they don't realize that what they're seeing isn't real.

That and, they have nothing better to do except maybe sit at home and drool over whatever evangelist they're lusting after.

Some people believe parts in it that are not true are fact, and because of this some may lose their faith and be led astray.

That's why the Catholic Church has been trying to put out the truth. Because even one lost soul because of this book is one lost soul too many. And the Church would not be doing her job if she didn't at least attempt to put out the truth when people are believing the fiction.

The author of this book puts forth the "fiction" as fact. I believe he even begins his book with that very word.

I'm not upset over the DaVinci code other than someone might actually believe it. I would be disappointed for that person!

I guess because they take it very serious for someone to protray on the movie screen that Jesus Christ is not the Savior of all man kind that could be one reason...But I do understand it was fiction ,but my beliefs are more secure...than say a child s or someone looking for the truth out inthe world.

because is disrespectful .

Is like if i write a fiction novel about your mom cheating on your dad (sorry for the example) not funny , well this is more or less the same but bigger.

also because in the beginnings of christianism many people died to defend truth that on this novel is taken lightly.

because they are ignorant. they haven't actually read the book, but think it should be banned because it might make people think. Its the same with the Harry Potter books. a girl at thewalmart where I used to work kept taking them off the shelf and putting them in the garbage because she thought they were bad for children to read and it would turn them to witchcraft, but she hadn't even read one word of them.
