The cloth in the tC is an all weather breathable cloth, not crap. It's not terry cloth, so it will wear better.
At $17.2 for a stick and $18k for an auto vs. upwards of $22k for Si, you get more car for your money with the tC. It uses mostly off the shelf parts from Toyota including a Camry motor.
There is a lot more torque in the tC, so it will feel a lot faster than the Civic in daily driving. With the Civic Si, you have to spin the motor past 6k rpm before any fun starts happening.

Depends on what you want, a Toyota build a car or an established quality Honda. The reason the scions are so popular with young kids is because they can customize them before they even buy them. They are pretty cheaply made, so go sit in one. The cloth material they use is crap and they have to send it to a private company to reupholster it in leather (its not an option through Toyota). The Civics on the other hand have nice cloth or leather interiors (depending on which one you buy) and lots of cool but not pointless upgrades. Plus they get better gas milage. The TC has a little more horsepower. But the new Civic SI is sweet and super fast. Either way, you should take each of them on a long test drive.

Having worked at a Scion dealership for 2 years, and owning a 2 door Honda, I would have to say that is up to you to decide. Test drive each one, and see what you like better. Its all about driving style and comfort. Both are very reliable cars.

I would say go with the one that is going to cost less to maintain. Which is the Civic. They've been around longer and are much easier and cheaper to get parts for. If a scion breaks it might be harder to locate a part for it. If you are buying brand new it won't matter because it will be under warranty. If you are buying used you might want to go with the one that will cost less in the long run. Since Scions are so new I don't know much about them, but I haven't seem many problems with the civic so it shouldn't leave you stranded.

scions are still pretty new but i test drove one and it was bad *** and really stylish. it is very small so if you are tall i do not recommend it . plus they are in high demand and are sometimes hard to get in the exact color and features you want.
honda is very reputable (as is toyota) and civic have been great cars. civic and accords are constantly on the nations 'most stolen' vehicle lists. go to www.edmunds.com and you can get side by side info on each.
I considered each of those cars but ended up on a pontiac vibe... there are positives and negatives to that car.
just depends on what you want out of a car to make it a 'better buy'

I researched this Q a couple of weeks ago. Wore out a lot of shoe leather. For me,best bang for my bucks is theToyota Carolla Seca. The Honda is sleek and well built. The Carolla, better design, easier to drive, great ride, room excellent, engine really nippy, to date there is no history of engine or g-box failure.
