His hyper-activeness is most likely due to an extra release of some hormones in his body. It is not a disease, for me its a gift. I don't know whether you know anything about the English football team, they have a play called Wayne Rooney, he is just 20 years old, but it is clear he is hyperactive and it helps him on the field, he is passionate about anything he does. You can do the same for him, help him channel all his strength towards his gifts. You can try out sports like football, basketball, table tennis etc, check out what he likes and encourage him to do it.
Whatever you do, don't put him on medications, it would only suppress all that strength in him and limit his true capacity.

My brother has ADD/ADHD whatever version it is and sounds like your kid is the same way. Buy like some video games that should keep him quiet for hours, maybe army like ones since most guys like army like things. Puzzles will also work but the 3-D ones like those balls you put back together, rubix cubes, and those 3-D puzzles. Music and books that have what my brother likes keeps him quiet in his room so that may work, but there might be loud music.
I don't think meds will help much anyway, sure doesn't help my brother. Uses it as an excuse to act up even more when he doesn't take them. With the meds he still the same way but won't blame it on not taking them but me and my sisters instead when we're doing something quietly.

You could make up activities and thing's for him to do. As, I said adopt a pet one that is hyper and they could tire each other out.
Put him in sports or you could take him to park and let him tire his self out. Keep in mind the YMCA has free activities.

You may want to take him to the library for a good book or two. I started taking my 7 year old cousin to the library and he loves it. It will also give you a chance to bond with him, when you read books together.

You could adopt a dog. I think a 10 year old would play with one of those all day long.

the park is free. you can walk and make him run circles around you. local basketball court. challenge him to jumprope or pogo stick or anything that takes a lot of energy. teach him to cook and have him prepare meals for the family. have him design a martial arts routine and perform it. make it longer every day.

Have you tried games? Uno.........twister.............dance dance revolution.......keeps him moving.
Keep him busy. Art day themes like Sea/ocean.Circus ...etc.........Draw themed scenes and tape to wall. Zoo animals...(a trip to zoo).........circus theme.......(trip to circus)......etc....have him take you to see the different pics around the house....have him explain and use his imagination.
Legos are an awesome way to keep a kid busy. They sell a bucket of legos for around 15 dollars. Cheaper than theme packs. Good luck !!
