Is it appropriate to wear thong sandals on the first day? It is a casual thing, casual dinner, concert out in the park and walk after?
Any advise? I don't want to seem like I am dressing down but they are fashionable and comfortable and look good with the outfit!

As long as you've got a pedicure and your feet look nice, go for it. You want comfort on a date like that which will involve walking and being outside, but you also want to look nice and I think that will do the trick nicely. Have a great time!

No you want to make a good first impression and wearing those thong slippers show that you lack care in the way you present yourself...therefore he'll think you'll lack care in the relatioinship or w/ him.

i would say yes, you dont want to look to dressed up and your feet will be killing you by the end of the night, i would say get a cute pair of sandles and go with thoses

I would efinitely recommend a pedicure first. I live in a warm climate, it's summer, it's hot, they are stylish...why not? as long as they aren't tacky.
