Low Freon.

Ok...sounds like you have a couple of things going on here. Lets start with the A/C compressor, how many miles on the car. Most compressor are made out of Aluminum and will wear out. The next piece to this is that you could be leaking freon. The third thing could be that you have trash that is stopping up the oraffice tube or the filter.
All of this needs to be checked by a A/C person. You dont want to touch or try to replace these items as they are under VERY HIGH pressure and can cause serious injury. Plus, Freon is a gas that is minus 100 degrees F.
So, Find you a good shop and have them take a look at the a/c system.

The compressor will cycle on and off and the time that it does this is subject to change with outside temp. Sounds like the freon is low but could also be the blend door not working correctly. A good mechanic should be able to determine the problem.

You are low in freon, if not, the system is blocked, which you would need a accumulator and orfix tube.

your compressor need more frion in other words it needs to be charged you can get kits to do this at wal-mart or you local auto parts store it is really easy to do or go to a auto shop and pay them to do this.
